Yokohama Triennale

Yokohama Triennale Specials by UiU:

The Yokohama Triennale has been initiated with the 1st edition in 2001, to mark the start of the new millennium. It has been held five times, with the 6th edition scheduled for 2017.

The exhibition features internationally prominent artists along with up-and-coming figures, and presents the latest trends and expressions in contemporary art along with site-specific works highlighting the distinctive charms of the port city of Yokohama.
The City of Yokohama, the second largest city in Japan, established the Creative City Yokohama policy in 2004; Yokohama Triennale is its core project. In 2011, the Yokohama Museum of Art was designated as one of the exhibition’s primary venues for the fourth exhibition, signaling a greater focus on continuity.

Symposia, workshops and other events are held in conjunction with the exhibition, to enhance the dialogue among the artists, participants and the visitors.
